This is a still shot from an animation that I created featuring a battle between two skeletal warriors. It was inspired by Ray Harryhausen's skeletons from the old Jason and the Argonauts.

I was going to say this reminded me of jason and the argonaughts, good job.

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: "Thank you Kris. i always loved that film. Even today I think it stands up well against modern 3D animation compositing. For those of you who haven't seen the film, go and watch it, you will enjoy it."

cool... i am starting to use 3d modeling programs for gaming myself and i no enough to see that it would take me FOREVER to make that... i mean the skeletons would take me about 5 months alone. wot program did you use? i use 3ds max 4 its sweet email me anwser plz cause i dont go on elfwood lots

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: "It was made in 3D Max. At the college where I work we have several 3D packages, but I prefer 3D Max over the others. Keep at it because it's worth the effort."

It looks incredible!!
You can really feel the atmosphere of the endless battle!!
This picutre is just incredible!

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: "Thank you Ignat. It loses some of the feeling in a still shot, in the animation the shots cut back and forth along with the fighting."

That was a cool movie. Skeletons look good but the background area seems kinda empty. No weapon racks, flags or training dummies in the background. Maybe that stuff would cause trouble for the animation.

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: "Thanks for the comment Aaron. You're right. The reason was that the animation is so fast paced in the cuts and thrusts that I wanted viewers to concentrate on the fighting action. The whole animation is about seven minutes long and in other areas the backgrounds have more decoration. The still shots loose a lot of the dynamic action."

ha ha has anyne here seen evil dead 3? when i see this i thing of that battle near the end with the deadites. 'Groovy'.

1 Andrew Whiteford replies: "I like it, "Army of Darkness" it was called when released in Australia. "This is my boomstick"!!!!"

2 Andrew Whiteford replies: "Thanks Derrick!"

3d max is good i'd say but it looks a little unnatural 1 maybe because of that lighting effect.
///'if you're the dm that likes throving tons of undead on your party'///

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: "Yeah, I need to learn better lighting skills. It is shadowed by the frame of the window. In the whole animation you can see the window shape and understand the shadow patterns."

Wow, so realistic! Too bad they're already dead, violence just isn't satisfying without bloodshed.

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: ""Let BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD be your battle cry" Quote from the King in the first Blackadder series."

A duel that will last forever... they must really hate each other. Very cool pic

:-) Andrew Whiteford replies: "Some people carry a grudge to the grave and beyond."
