SciFi & Fantasy Fiction and Stories by Kristen Heritage

Kristen is questioning the line that exists between art and entertainment. It's amusing how people assume that there isn't one.

I finished with chapter three, if you feel like reading it 2 At the moment, it is under the "other works" tab, but I’m working on that.

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "Sure, I’ll read it! Did they say why they put it in other works? =("

Hey man, good to hear from you! I’ve been in the same boat recently but I’m trying to get active again, we should chat some time and I need to finish catching up with Willow... 1

Happy New Year! Best wishes for 2012.

You might be waiting some time... I don’t know. I’m writing but I’m never satisfied with any of it, I’ve lost my way haha.. I just need some fresh inspiration I think. =/

EDIT: Noticed you’re a Breaking Benjamin fan. My respect for you just trebled (not that it was low in the first place). ;D

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "Sometimes, you have to just trust yourself. We’re all our own harshest critics. Good luck, though.

Hah, you’re a fan too? I’m not too fond of their latest album, but I really like their earlier work. Too bad they broke up. 8"

Fan? Damn man, I’m gutted that they broke up, not that I’d have seen them live anyway being English (they never toured outside the US due to Ben’s "phobia"12). I’ve also got to say I actually think the fourth album is rather good myself, amazing even. It’s a close call between it and Phobia for my favourite!

But yes, I’m going to try and get writing again, asap! 2
You should too!

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "Sorry for the late reply, I haven’t been active on Elfwood lately! >.<

I’m hoping Ben creates a new band. He was the driving force behind the music to begin with, so new bandmates might even make his music even better. I will miss the rhythm section, though. The drummer and bassist had a really interesting style. I’m fairly indifferent to Dear Agony because the whole thing just seems like one long, drawn out, melodramatic breakup song. There isn’t nearly as much variety as their earlier albums. the whole thing just strikes me as a bit ballad-y and overwrought.

I haven’t been writing much lately, but I ended up writing a ton for National Novel Writing Month back in November. I decided to rewrite my story without Willow, so I find myself with a large amount of revision on my hands! >.<"

Ah well, I agree. As long as Burnley continues all will be just swell 2
I like the melodrama though ^^’

But. .. No more Willow? :’(

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "I like a certain degree of melodrama in my music too, but I wish the album was less ballady. 8 I’m also a little sad that Dear Agony lacked the type of stand-out tracks that were on previous albums, like Home, Forget It and You Fight Me.

Yeah, no more Willow. I’ve always found her to be one of my dullest characters, and I recently came to terms with the fact that her plotline is totally arbitrary. Also, her existence creates a number of gaping plot holes. So, I’m left with Thainen as my main character, which should prove.... interesting. "

....boo

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "AHHHHH!!!"

I didn’t find her that dull, maybe a little cliche - but it is SO hard to make something completely original these days! Either way man, get writing - I need some reading material 2

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "That’s just the thing. She’s cliche. There was nothing to seperate her from the armies of other plucky fantasy heroines. The only reason I’m tentative about deleting her is that it leaves me with a deficiency of female characters.

Wil do! 2"

^Avoiding a problem will often lead to another.
Solving a problem, that’s where your efforts should lie.

Hey Kristen!
Not too bad man, not too bad. Thanks for asking 2
I’m just screaming in frustration for lack of time to read and write, I am off for a week commencing Friday though so... With any luck... That’ll get me going >1

And how about yourself? Did you decide what to do about Willow?

Good to hear from you,

Carey

:-) Kristen Heritage replies: "Happy easter, man!
My vacation ends tomorrow. >.< I’ve been preoccupied with projects recently, so I’ve lacked time to write as well, but I think I’ve decided to do away with her.

Hope you find time to write!"
