A little mermaid plays sweetly upon her shell pipes, as the nearby sea critters come to listen.  

Please excuse the lack of accuracy in the plants and fish, and everything really. I woke in the middle of the night and drew this without any reference or research to the real things. I would have like it to look less paint-ish; maybe I’ll redo it sometime.

The detail is amazing. Especially in the coral/fins (?) behind her head. I’ve expanded the pic a dozen times now just to gawp at it 22Post more please!

:-) Alison Smoot replies: "Thanks. Unfortunately, much of the detail was lost in the photograph; I should take it somewhere to be scanned. I know that it is rather difficult to tell the fins from the coral in some places, lol. I don’t know what “gawp” means, but it is a great compliment to know that you spent so much time doing it. "

gosh simply wonderful , seeing becomes kind of transcendent ,the musical aspect tooi love the soft colours and the leafshapes the mermaid and her seaworld are beautiful ..its extraordinary , how the whole picture is so together ,and makes a magical glimpse ..so very well painted !
