Between a weary scowl and warm a smile, most would be likely to trust the latter, and would gladly choose a pleasant lie over an ugly truth.

An unfortunate soul is trapped and tormented for the amusement of a cruel demon.  There is only one way out, it’s just a matter of time.  This is small (8x4”) watercolor, I tried for a 1920’s look on the dress.

I like this. I think everyone can identify with the idea of there being two sides to everyone, there are times when the face that we show to the world is entirely different from whats reallly inside us. Idk if thats the idea you were illustrating. Thats just what this made me think of.

:-) Alison Smoot replies: "Generally, what a person takes from a picture depends greatly upon what they bring to it. One should consider that in all one perceives. As it happens, you aren’t too far off.
As always, thank you for stopping by, Gabi. It would be great to see more of you around the Woods, you ought to set up an account.

I can relate to this, though I doubt any demons are involved in my case. A dark and emotional piece. I’m enchanted by it. Gorgeous detail on the mask and dress.

:-) Alison Smoot replies: "Yeah, well you know what they say; a picture says a thousand words. Unlike you, words aren’t my strongest medium, not to mention, they weren’t very nice words, or likely to be well received. As you no doubt assumed, the demon is purely metaphoric. "
