Where the trees are made of iron,

And the people made of wood,

Where the Oceans fill the sky,

While birds swim and fishes fly.

 

The bird represents reality, throwing all else into relief, while beckoning you join the madness. I painted this as a birthday present for Sara, and once again the little floating orbs return. It actually has a border (of course), but the only photograph that I have of it is severely cropped.

Oh, this is lovely, has amazing depth and shading in the feathers! Love the twisted branch idea.

:-) Alison Smoot replies: "Thank you. I have to admit that I was nervous about trying to get white feathers to show up on a white bird. I went through a twisted phase a couple of years ago, during which I drew forests of twisted trees, I suppose that this was a reverberation. "
