SciFi and Fantasy Art Morena by Barbora Ahrimane Haringová

This picture shows Morena ( Morana), Slavonic goddess of nature and death. She married Jarilo, her brother and the god of vegetation, spring and harvest. Later he was killed by her (or her father Perun) :) . Without her husband, however, Morana was turned into a frustrated , terrible and dangerous goddess of death, frost and winter, and died by the end of the year. At the beginning of the new year, both she and Jarilo are born again, and the entire myth starts anew.
