I drew this phoenix on the local tennis court near my house. It took two hours and it was a real work-out! Those kendo-muscles came in handy... The phoenix is 5 meters from beak to tail and 4 meters across the wings, which is really too big... I foud out the hard way. Lost count on how many chalks I used up. Possibly my most expensive drawing ever. =/ I would have liked a better variety of colors, but I couldn't get my hands on any. I almost paniced when I realized I didn't have any black. (Nooooo!) The colors was a bit crappy, no real red, but only some replusive shade of pastell pink. *twitches* Well, what are you gonna do. I took the pictures immediately after finishing it, because I could almost hear the local kids drooling in the shadows to come out and kill it. I was right too, when I went to check on it three hours later, it was ruined.

The "street phoenix" was too big for me to photograph it properly. Either way I did it, it got out of porpotion or it didn't fit on the screen. So I took a couple of photos. In total, there are three uploaded here on Elfwood.

Omg i love it!!! You really felt the pain in your art, eh? This looks a lot like how i picture the pheonyx in some of my stories here. Well-deserved mod's!!!

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Phoenix's deserve to be depicted and wrote about in stories, don't you think? =) Keep up the writing!"

Congratulations! You've got another mod's choice!

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Johannes, my insane second cousin! *hands you a bee hive* Thanks for dropping by! =D"

Too cool that you drew that in chalk! There's a beautiful chalk drawing down the block from me, and I often stop and admire it. Awesome!

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Maybe I'll try to develop my chalk-skills... This was my first time, after all. I'll go look for someplace with less sadistic kids around. =)"

Actually, your colours worked quite well. I like the very dreamy, faded feel of the drawing, like the Phoenix is gliding and fading away in its colours. It looks poetic, if you get my meaning.

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Wow, thanks. You make it sound so beautiful. =) And like it was intended... ^^,"

Don't feel bad. I've got neighbors like that, too. They just can't keep thier noses out of other peoples' business. Lol. I think that's why people like that live for. *sighs* Oh, well!

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Just saw yesterday that the local kids has been drawing with chalk all over the path right outside my front door. Go kids! (And if the evil neighbour gets upset, I'm innocent this time! =P)"

They were just jealous because they couldn't do it. 1 But I'll bet there were a few who thought to themselves..."Wow, she's good!!!"

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "One can always hope. =) I'm just happy my evil neighbour didn't catch me doing it. She spies on everyone and complains about everything. I'm sure she would have given me a good reason why I shouldn't be drawing all over the tennis court..."

The sheer volume of comments on here speaks to the outstanding quality of your work. On the pavement, now that’s really something

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "The only thing that’s tricky about these kinds of works, in my opinion, is that it’s easy to lose perspective and get out of proportion, since it’s very big. You have to step back to see the whole picture."

This is really beautiful, and kind of dreamy. I didn’t even realize it was a chalk picture until I read your description. I don’t mind the pink either, since it just looks like he has some light shining on him or something. Lovely job!
