Id draw you a picture but I am terrible at it. What was always said is that while the sword itself was plain if you looked at it people describe it as “alive”. Not in the way that you or I are alive but in the way that one might consider fire to be alive. It remained the same sword but seemed to “shift” its perspective. Some believed that the metal was not off this world (elves had created it) which is why it could not break and remained razor sharp. They may have actually been right..thought the stories they tell of Elves fashioning it are obviously far fetched. What IS interesting is that it may have been fashion from a meteorite which had fallen to earth. Which is how the sword could have taken on mythical dimensions of that time. They knew nothing of alloys and a metal that fell from the sky may have had properties that none had seen at that time. The point is no one really new. Now the stranger part of it is ..who could have fashioned a sword from said material? Who could have created a fire strong enough to melt the material and then known enough how to work that material into a sword shape. It must have been very difficult. And may lend reason as to why the sword was kept to such a simple shape. All legends are based on some fact and sometimes the fact is of greater scale then a legend itself. Sometimes fact is harder to believe then a legend because no one could believe it without actually seeing it for themselves. | |
