In 1835, Sir John Herschel reported that through his telescope, he was able to see strange bat-like creature inhabiting on the moon. He described them as having huge wings, dark coloured eyes and their skin was bluish in colour. Sir John associated the this alien creature  with a higher species of bat-man and was collectively known as Lunarians.
