| 18 May 2003 | Vampyre | Loading...One of my Favorites! I like the attention you've given it by adding fur (they ARE from the Northern pine-forests!). Oh, if you ever get a chance, people, read The Wendigo (I believe it's by Algernon Blackwood)... you can find it (a short-story) in several Horror Anthologies .... as well written as your art is artistic. As for eating people? Well, they don't taste like chicken (a popular misconception), they taste BETTER than pork, but similar, which is why they're referred to as "long pig" in culinary circles (guess you know where I've been dining). | |

which is tomorrow, 07.00 p.m.!
(then the whole world gets swamped by wendigos. Cool! ... 'till they eat you!) | |

| 22 Oct 2008 | Hanuman | Loading... Not that I’m any kind of expert on the subject, but my family was heavily involved in the Midewinwin Lodge and I’ve had to hear many a complaint about what has happened with the Wendigo legend. So,here goes: The Wendigo is a wrathful spirit that punishes those that disrespect any form of Nature(on purpose or unconsciously),by devouring or possessing them. They are ravenous and will eat anything, but since they aren’t humans, they aren’t cannibals. The whole cannibal thing started when Europeans forced Natives into harsh environments without the option of migrating South during winter. This adjustment to the legend kept people from resorting to cannibalism when the "silent enemy" (starvation)approached. This legend was also combined be the French with their Werewolf lore, thus the idea of being transformed into a Wendigo when you committed an unspeakable act. The Wendigo can rip you apart, kill you,eat you, invade your body with it’s spirit, control you, and make you one of it’s minion, but the only time I’ve heard of anyone becoming one is when a Medicine Person want’s to take the chance of harnessing it’s energy for there own use. It’s a ritual that involves great risk, but if the person isn’t overwhelmed, they can use the power for great good. The one thing to remember is that the Wendigo is not evil. It should be looked at more as instant Karma to those that defile Nature and our Brother&Siaters In Fur. | |
