Glaurung was the first of Melkor's mighty Dragons, and possibly the greatest. He first crawled from the depths of Angband in 265, but the Noldor drove him back, as he was not fully grown.

In the 'Dagor Bragollach' and the 'Nirnaeth Arnoediad', Glaurung was a crucial part of Morgoth's forces, and having grown to his full power he wrought horrific destruction on the battlefield.

Glaurung led the assault upon Nargothrond, and there came across Túrin Turambar for the first time. Túrin raised his sword, but Glaurung's gazse paralysed him in a trance. Túrin could only look on helplessly as his elven friends, including his dear friend Finduilas, were led past him. Not even her cries could break the terrible spell of Glaurung.

Glaurung dwelt in the ruined halls of Finrod Felagund for a while, but came forth at last to seek Túrin. He was slain by Túrin's black sword Gurthang in the Forest of Brethil, though Túrin himself proved the last victim of this monstrous creature when he took his own life thanks to the poisoned words of the Great Worm.

Don't worry, I don't think he's cute. I think he's kinda scary. But he's cool, though! Great job!

I think the eye placement is very interesting. Is this creature's physical appearance described in detail anywhere?

:-) Alexander J. Harron replies: "I took the eye placement from snakes. Also, there's no strict description of Glaurung given anywhere, he's just described as a really big lizard. However, he's known to use some sort of transfixing power with his eyes, so i though having them at the front of his head would give that idea more power."

The red mist is cool effect but im a bit dissapointed...I always pictured dragons with longer necks and just longer limbs in general....Just wasnt my original image but syill far better than anything i could do!

I don't like your dragon at whole.Later forms of morgot's dragons were alike to the father but had wings.I can't imagine this one flying. So they probabli didn't look like yours.

Evil, i thought he looked different, but i like it nice and scary, but kind of um, an animal if i met i would be laughing so hard i would die, but still is great

Ehi how did you do that?I will never try to make the same.Well,I could do it only if,for some reasons,I would be imprisoned for a long time, having a lot of spare time.
6 Dec 200645 So much better than you
Naw, he looks too much like an oversized iguana to be "Father of the Dragons." Not even close to what the ultimate dragon should look like. Back to the ole' drawing board for you...
