She was destined to be Queen.

Matylda Donelle was loved in her family. But something was corrupting the thoughts of her family: some outsider was feeding lies and dark rumours. For a while the family did not heed such claims. But it was not long that they started to believe the false claims. They were tricked and decieved into thinking their wayward sister had been a cruel assassin, that her journeys into other kingdoms were campaigns of thievery and violence. Though common sense and logic were with them, somehow, the teller of lies enthralled the family, and they decided that Matylda had to die.

At her Ceremony of Ascension, they struck. Matylda's sisters and aunts and cousins all surrounded her. Matylda fought, and in the slaughter that followed only she remained.

Why did this happen? How could her family do this? Who did this to her family? Questions that Matylda, newly deemed Scornheart, will seek answers to in her journeys. Carrying the Peacehammer of her mothers, bearing the many scars of her family's onslaught, she will walk to the ends of the earth to find out...

What an intriguing story! I love the silhouette!

Hmmm, all alone, how sad, great pic. When did you put this up

:-) Alexander J. Harron replies: "A wee while ago, methinks."

This looks really great. One thing, those spires/towers in the background, what exactly are those? To me they apear to be flat, which could be what you wanted. If it were me I would try and make them look more 3d by making it seem the fog wraps around them. Still like it alot, especially your lighting.

:-) Alexander J. Harron replies: "Those Spires are based on a natural phenomenon mostly seen as Basalt Pillars. Basically, they were formed when this whole valley was a gigantic volcano, and magnetic iron particals clung together in pillars within the pliable magma. When the Magma started to spread out across the landscape the pillars remained erect, though wind erosion has tapered them. I might work on them a bit more to make them less flat, but it might just be the perspective working against it."

Do you have more story to this? I'm intrigued. Would you send me an email if you do? The sunset and the way the sun glows, creating a shadowey look for the character is aws.

:-) Alexander J. Harron replies: "You'll find out more about the story once I've put more art on the site (read: when I've finished thinking it up), so check back every so often!"

Wonderful story and lighting on the picture...it looks very real, as if you could stick your hand right through and touch it...

P.S. Was the teller of lies named Morgoth? lol

I love the little story at the beginning! It's quite sad that Matylda's family would turn on her like that. Great picture!
