In the First Ages, the great menace to middle-Earth was the fallen valar Melkor, who took fallen Maiar as his servants. One of them was Gorthaur, the Terrible Dread, who would then become known as Sauron the Abhorred.

In due course, he would rise from the darkness to wreak havoc on the world, beginning with the forging of rings...

Yes its quite intersting to see a lesser sauron in a more mortal form rather than the generic 20 foot dreadlord weilding a flaming ring.....Quite good

Yes, this is a very good work, but if you carefully read the Silmarillian, or you skim to near the end and start reading as I did, you will find that before the fall of Nummenor, Sauron could take on a fair form in the sight of men and elves, and all other beings. But if he wanted to, be took on a terrible form to intimidate and manipulate others. But of course, after Eru destroys Nummennor, and the fleet that was sailing towords Aman, Sauron lost his body, so all he was was a evil spirit. He became as the Nazgul. But that's just background I like this a lot, though the Sauron in the movie was a little more intimidating than he is. But still, great job.

I liked him better as Annatar, Lord of Gifts. Anyhow, please check your anatomy book. His arms are too short.

To my understanding Sauron wasn't thoroughly described was he? He shape-shifted a lot, so I figured he Tolkein kept him as a shadow, just as he lived- a shadow running from the light. I know the described Melkor A LOT, and in the movie Sauron looked a lot how I pictured Melkor. So I assumed Sauron took a form like his lord so he good inherit his menacing grandure.
Good pic!

i dont like it at all.. It seems more like a hero from X-men then Sauron... or Gorthaur as he first was.. looked more like an Angel.. elf kind.. seens he was a Maia.. same race as Gandalf sort of.. from Valinor.. and until he became "Sauron" he was fair.. a shape shifter he was also.. but by that time.. he was the same Sauron we saw in the Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the ring Prologue.. exept maybe for his crown.. but more or like that.. and that doesnt look like him AT ALL

Hmmm...looks somewhat like Magneto from the original X-Men cartoon that I watched when I was a kid...with the muscles and cape and all...it certainly shows Sauron as a more human figure than what I pictured him being...but perhaps that suggests something, no?
6 Dec 200645 So much better than you
his arms are tiny, he must be half midget. Yeah, in other words, you suck.

his helmet reminds me of Lord Zed from Power Rangers
