I've been an artist since... well, pretty much since I could hold a pencil. I tend to hold it in a rather unusual way, with a three-fingered grip rather than the classic pincer grip. I've known some Chinese calligraphists to write in this fashion.

Like most geeks I'm heavily into high fantasy. I started on Tolkien and Lord of the Rings, but I'm starting to get sucked into darker tales like those told by Michael Moorcock, H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. As a result you'll be seeing a lot more Cthulhu and Conan art in this gallery in the future, though I'm still liking the Silmarillion very much, with Lord of the Rings making up the bulk of the gallery at this time.

Apart from art, I'm extremely into dinosaurs. I desparately wanted to share my dinosaur pictures here, but of course they're technically not fantasy, on account of them being very much real. However, I've written a few short stories that have a fantasy slant that feature dinosaurs, and I've got some characters that I conjured myself here too. I tend to be a world-builder in the vein of Tolkien and Le Guin, mostly just inventing little worlds and trying to fit little stories into them.

I'm still working hard doing Illustration at the Glasgow College of Building and Printing, where my many exploits included designing a deck of cards based on the Ring of the Nibelung, drawing a full-page illustration on Glasgow Murder Mysteries, and writing my own children's book.

I'm really pleased with my children's book: it's basically Roald Dahl meets H.P. Lovecraft. Though to be honest, they're not that far apart...

UPDATE: In case anyone was wondering what 's up and why I'm not updating, it's because my computer had crashed a few months ago. It's only now that I've had access to a computer (the college has generously let me on) that I could respond to all the comments and relay this message

Suffice to say I've been very busy in my time away from cyberspace, I've done 5 character portraits, 1 Lovecraft illustration, 1 Moorcock illustration, 3 Howard illustrations and 4 battle scenes. Yes, you read that right, FOUR battle scenes. They'll be up as soon as I can commandeer a scanner and such. Don't lose hope!
