I wanted it to be more reminiscent of the Alan Moore run of the DC comic book, and less reminiscent of the TV show. And I still don't know how I feel about the background.

Wow, very cool. If I may ask, did you do your inking with regular ink pen or did you do it digitally? If digitally, what program did you use? I ask because I'm trying to figure out how to ink one of my sketches, and it's too small and detailed to do by hand.

For the definitive work on the subject...may I suggest the Berni Wrightson illustrated issues.

They are beyond a doubt considered the highpoint of the character.
