Tag As FavoriteComment		An elf riding a giant eagle. Drawn for a board game - www.dragonquests.com for more info - I wanted the elf to kinda 'surf' on the back of the eagle rather than sit on it. I like the way the bird turned out but not so keen on the elf - especially his hair which didnt work at all. Painted in photoshop.

The eagle looks just about perfect, but I agree, the elf could use more work. The size relationship seems a bit off, the eagles in the background seem much larger than this one. Also, something about the pose bothers me, as if the elf is not looking at the same thing as his eagle. Not sure. And you are right about the hair. I don't think it would be blowing up like that, perhaps going down and to the back? Maybe you could get a friend to pose for reference pictures? Other than that, great idea, great composition, great sense of movement. Good job.

:-) Alex Pass replies: "The scale is inconsistant - The foreground eagle and elf is what I had planned, I wanted the elf to kind of surf on the eagle's back rather than a more traditional sitting position. I messed up the scale on the riders in the background. The eagle and the elf arn't meant to be looking at the same thing - one has to look at the enemy whilst the other looks where they're going 12 Thanks very much for your comments. Cheers."

That eagle looks great, and stunningly real, like a photo. what a brilliant idea, (hope he doesn't fall)
the blue colour in the background really brings out the eagles and the elf, really great work!

Love the way you can clearly see the muscles on the elf without making him look cartoonishly buff, and while you said it was for dragonquest, it looks a bit lord of the rings-ish to me. Nicely done
