"Taurus" by Alex Pass

Ha HA!! YES!! FIRST COMMENT!!! Overall, this is one of the better pieces I have seen on Elfwood. The shading of the musculature is wonderful and really gives the character shape and depth. One anatomic flaw though: in order for a bull's body to support that kind of mass on a human torso that far forward on a bull, the front legs of the bull would have to be much more developed otherwise he would tip over and fall flat on his face; not a good move in a battle. Aside from that, the character is very good and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. Does he even need that mallet with that body? I personally don't like mallets but since it seems to suit this guy, I guess I'm okay with it. Great pic and keep up the good art. (Don't take any bull from anyone on this one) *runs away will dodging arrows and bullets fot the stupid pun*

Alex Pass replies: "Thankyou very much. I didn't think about the anatomical reporcussions on the legs of having added weight, but pics of centaurs dont seem to bother. I'll bear it in mind for the future though. I'm not usually keen on mallets either - I was going to give him an axe, but I thought the brute strength and of the mallet suited him better. I don't know if I'll do any more pics of him, I don't usually draw characters more than once, but maybe... BTW, I like stupid puns "

Once again I can't help but to love the arms, thanks to the veins. Great work on them. The legs seem a bit... hmm... statue-like, but otherwise nicely shaded.

Alex Pass replies: "Lol, the reason the legs look a bit statue like is the only decent photo I could find for reference was a of a statue. Glad you like the rest of it tho."

In AD&D, bull-centaurs are called 'Manotaurs'. I hope that helps.

I'm not an artist but I think this picture is amazing. I was looking for a good kind of centaur to design a tattoo for my body and think this idea is better than a centaur. Thank you!

Okay here's the deal i viewed most of your pictures and some you have critisized heavily. If I could draw anywhere near as good i would be a happy man, you should appreciate your skills.i stand by that statement until i see some work which is more stunning then other work i've seen from you.

This looks extremely familiar! I'm wondering if I'm been here before, but I thought for sure I commented on it. Anyway, this is really - really cool! Great use of of lights and darks ^^

Ionly thing i have to say is i wouldn't want to run into him and i would ignore these people who think your gross that picture is awesome....... Its a guy thing

"Minotaur" is the term from Greek mythology.

I don't see what's wrong with the picture. I am hearing people say that it's..."gross"? Maybe because his horns are showing?

Alex Pass replies: "Hmmm, a minotaur to me is a bulls head, mans torso and arms and 2 bulls legs rather than a more human head and 4 bulls legs. I dunno though, maybe it could be a different species of minotaur?"

Wow, this is truly awesome. You definately have a knack for the anatomy!
And I how it looks like he is in battle, and the absolute brute force that generates from this picture.

I suppose centuars would aim more for speed and agility, while this Taurus, or Manotuar as Dasvid Mitchell said is just the brute strength.
