'I didn't know I had another mother,' said Coraline, cautiously. 'Of course you do. Everyone does,' said the other mother, her black button eyes gleaming. Aheheh. If I understand the rules correctly, book fanart doesn't have to go into the FanQuarter unless it's Harry Potter! So this is fanart from Coraline by Neil Gaiman, a book which freaked the living bejeezus out of me. Done in oekaki, with a mouse.

That's sounds like an interesting book. Though if it freaked you out, I might pee my pants! Or worst which better not be named...

Oh! I loved that book! Freaky beyond reason, but it was a good book. The "other mother" looks just like I imagined her.

I'm assuming that the 'black button eyes' was a metaphor (haven't read the book) although I'd have to say that expressing it literally was a great touch. The backdrop portrait caught my eye - nice blurred effect.

:-) Andrea L. Peterson replies: "Nope. Not a metaphor. >1"

Hmm, now you got me interested. Maybe I ought to check this book out. Well, I had the pleasure of touring your gallery and I hope to see more of your interesting pieces (kudos to you m'lady) in the future.

OMG! I'm reading that book! Started reading yesterday and I'm almost done! But I hope Coraline finds all the souls and won't get buttons for her eyes! 8

That’s like my favourite book in the whole world! So terrifying, yet told in this slightly childish way....This is great fanart.
