Last Hope Tavern

Your travels take you to the town of Corvia. It has rained continually for three days; you are drenched, tired and hungry. King Orrfus has sent you to investigate the dissappearance of Monks who were sent to Dorkon on a mission of peace. He knows if anyone can find out what happened to them, you can. He appointed you to his court at the beginning of his rule; and you have never disappointed him.  But you have a more personal interests in this assignment...a dear friend is among the missing. And with all you have been through, it is the one factor that keeps you from being scared off the assignment.

You have been on this investigation for several months now and have reached a dead end in every city and small villiage throughout Dorkon. In your quest, you were robbed, threatened, jailed on bogus charges, beaten and left for dead in trying to uncover the truth about the missing crew. An old one-eyed woman, angry with the corrupt authorities in the small town of Muelsil for the unjust execution of her husband and sons, slipped you a note as you hurried out of town. Your face still fresh from the beating, you uncrumble the note. The old woman"s chicken scratch reveals a contact you can trust; but you will have to travel many miles to the very end of Dorkon.

You make your way to a dark tavern, called Last Hope. You pray that the tavern lives up to its name. The door opens and you shy away from the brightness. Your travels have been dark and hazy...making this the brightest light you have seen in weeks. Once your eyes adjust to the light, you notice all eyes are staring at you. The music stops, conversations stop, the looks you get send chills through your soul. And the blackness of their stares tells you...you are not welcome here. Quietly, a disheveled looking female walks up to you; her hair...a mousey brown, her hips...a bit wide, her lips...a bit thin; yet there is an honest beauty about her, like that of a young elf, and she captivates you. "Do not mind them," she says in a warm voice,  "Come, have a seat here." As you make your way over to a table in the far corner, you feel their eyes following you; as you take your seat beside her, your young hostess scans the room with her eyes; and with a stern but reassuring look on her face, says, "What can I help you with my brothers?" Her voice seems to calm their suspicion. The music starts; the conversations start. You show her the note; she seems to have expected you. But how? Had the old woman gotten a note to her too. And did she know of your coming? There are many questions you need answering and it appears you will find them here in this strange little place called Last Hope Tavern .......

Very good, this sounds a lot like some of the RPGs I do - I LOVE role-playing 1 Great detail, well done.

:-) Harriett L Randall replies: "You like role-play? Cool. My sons pulled me into writing it. My real thing is: plays, poetry, screen writing, though they’re just manuscripts, lol. But I’m starting to like the role-playing stuff."

Wow, the second person voice was really interesting...you so rarely see that in fiction. You made really good use of it. Happy Birthday, by the way...you commented to someone that it was your birthday today and I wanted to wish you a happy one! Hope the upcoming year is wonderful!

:-) Harriett L Randall replies: "Thank you Michelle."
