Song of the Dragon Queen
I will sing you a song of a dragon queen who lost all she loved to a war. But the story does not start here, but long long ago in the royal city of Bore, ruled by an Orc King.
Her long black hair clung to her waist as she bathed herself in a hidden brook covered by bright green trees...but he could still see her. He was an evil Orc king whose heart had never felt love until he saw her. He watched her wet fingers slide over each curve of her smooth bronze hips, bathed her with his eyes…longed to be those wet fingers touching her well crafted body. He had to have her, molest her, take her lips into his mouth and suck; and when he could stand it no longer, he moved from the shadows, rustling the leaves and breaking twigs under his feet. But the sounds startled the woman; and sensing the intrusion, she quickly evolved into a fire-breathing dragon with 20 foot wings and soared into the bright sky and disappeared. The Orc was taken aback, he gasped and his knees buckled under him at what he had seen.
Many days passed, and the King grew weary, for he could not stop thinking about the beautiful dragon maiden. Each day, for many months, he waited by that same brook...hoping to see his love; but she never came. So the Orc king mounted his swiftest horse and set out to case the land. He knew every area of his land, for as a child, he had been very adventurous. He visited every hidden brook in the land until his eyes finally fell upon her in the cool of the evening, bathing her bronze body that gleamed in the blue of the water. His eyes widen with excitement; and not wanting to frighten her again, he tossed a bright red rose into the brook and gently called out, “Dragon Lady, fair and beautiful, do not be afraid.” Not frighten, but hesitant, she turns slowly to half dragon and half woman. “Who are you?” she demanded, “and who dares to know my secret?” The evil Orc didn’t answer, but eased out of the shadows. He stood before a fully formed dragon now. Her green eyes locked with his lovesick stare and their hearts fell in sync.
She married the evil Orc, but her love soon turned his heart good. They reigned together for forty years and produced offspring of half Orcs and half dragons, called Nordoxz, because they inherited their mother’s magical powers. The new race grew strong and powerful, but the high council of the dragons attempted to turn the Nordoxz against the Orcs, so together they could take over the kingdom. The King’s Orcyn advisors (who never liked the queen) convinced him that his wife was the head of this conspiracy.
The king’s heart returned cold and fearing for his throne, he became evil again. Not knowing who to trust, he isolated himself from reality, heard voices where there were none…and believing that his wife was a part of this treason, declared war against the dragon race, and commanded their offspring to use their magic against them. Not sure what to do with his queen, he ordered her drugged as a woman, but when she woke, she was a chained dragon. Her family was cut to pieces while yet alive, and their heads placed on poles and displayed throughout the land. With the help of the only two sons who were still loyal to her, she barely escaped with her life. Poisoned with hatred for their father, at the urgency of their mother, they planned to ambush the king. The queen knew the routine of her former lover. And as he took his daily walk through the garden, the sons overpowered him and killed him. In her mental seclusion, the queen went mad. Still full of love for her dead husband, and drenched with guilt for his murder, she drugged her two sons, killed them as they slept and ran the sword through her own heart.
Down through the ages, her life was told in fairytales, songs and poetry. Her great legacy was the part she had played in creating the powerful Nordoxz race, which had emerged the only winners of that ghastly war. Their magical powers catapulted them into a powerful nation. Great kings fell to them in submission, and their kingdom snatched from under them. With an iron fist, the Nordoxz ruled many lands for a thousand years, until a more powerful enemy crushed them into near extinction. But rising from the ashes, their struggle continues.
