My take on Jaktens Tid by Finntroll. A horde of trolls out hunting. Took me some time to get the trolls to look like I wanted, still got to work some on them but they are pretty much as I want them. I wanted that pond to look like a dark, calm forest tarn. But as I 'forgot' to add reflections it looks more like oil, so now I gotta make a new drawing with a tarn in :)

Once again, I must comment. I love the detail you put into this piece. How do you have so much patience? Any advice on shading techniques? I would really appreciate them.BTW Trolls rock hehe

2 Johan Aronson replies: "  Thankyou 2 I really don't have much patience, doing this one (and most other pics too) I spent an hour or two every other day drawing, in that way avoiding to getting too bored. Not sure what advice I can give on shading.. I use a 0.5 mm technical pen, cause with 0.7 mm gets too "grainy" and with 0.3 mm it's hard to get good contrast, also use 2B leads for the same reason. Hm.. doing different textures on different stuff can be good also to make them stand apart from each other. That is what I can think of at the moment."

they remind me of the good guys from Jim Henson's The dark Crystal (sorry can't remember what they were called) and i don't know why.

Your trolls are amazing. They are cute, but not in a fake cuddly way; they all look similar, yet no two are the same; all in all, their detail is astounding. I want to hide and watch the little guys go about their business, just to see what will happen next.

I love this! It is probally one of your best... (*sits up straight*) ..Personally *cough cough*

2 Johan Aronson replies: "Thank you! I remember I was pretty proud over it when I did it, hehe, but not that much anymore. Guess I just look at the technical bits though."

Great picture! the evilness of the trolls is right on, and the angle of the back ground gives the whole thing great perspective.

:-) Johan Aronson replies: "Thanks! Good thing they looked evil to you, they're out hunting humans after all. >2"

Wow! This really neat. I especially like the pines, real "skogish" vibe.

Sure pity the village that they’re heading for..
