The wargear of a templar.

On the brim of the shield it says 'We who are about to die salute you, Lord'
Paeniteo means 'Repent'
Deus Vult means 'God wants it'
On the blad of the sword it says 'not to us Lord, not to us. but to thy name give the glory'

(I must translate or the mods get grumpy ;)

Beautiful sword and shield. I am especially impressed with the folds in the fabric, which is something I have yet to master.

A nicely done, and cool picture! I was amused too see the dragon on the lower bit of the picture. Is it taken from any sagas?

:-) Johan Aronson replies: "Thanks! It's supposed to be the wargear of a knight templar, so the icons and symbols are christian. I think the devil is sometimes portrayed as a dragon, so the little picture actually shows a templar fighting the devil. 2"

Marvelous2 I appreciate. It's such a great contrast to the rest of your gallery - it's great you can create something eye-catching and simply beautiful in many different styles.
I love the details and light There is something sad in this picture, a specific atmosphere that remind me about time passing and a dimmed light.

This is really good. You should make it for real, and put it on the wall! I really like the shape of the swordsblade, and the cross on the shield.

2 Johan Aronson replies: "Thanks! Personally I'm not too fond of "fantasy" style swords, but I tried to make this a little more exotic than a real-life medieval sword and yet *somewhat* realistic."

Wow, I would not have the patience to paint all the individual letters on that hilt..

hm.. the only things i could translate was: deus vult,
which means god will, something like that. Am i correct?
Nice reflections on the sword.

:-) Johan Aronson replies: "Correct. "God's will", or "god wills it". It was the motto of the templars."
