"Fiddle Dee Dee (Poem)" by Amy ´Insom´ Downum

Ghost steps scampering in the wind's eerie lee 
A hung-man corpse swings from the tree
And the cadaver sings 'fiddle dee dee, fiddle dee dee'
I know what it's like to truly be free.

Breeze in the bones flutes a haunting tune
That echoes in the grass that spikes on the dune.
A lone wolf whimpers a plea to the Moon
To burp up the cat who stole his spoon.

And I can hear the midnight train
As it roars like a lion across the plain.
Leaving a smoke trail as thick as a mane.
A phantom lamentation, it must be in pain.

Black ants go marching three by three
Blanketing the warped oak tree.
And the cadaver sings 'fiddle dee dee, fiddle dee dee'
The ants at last have come to free me.
