This is a picture I am very pleased with. I woke up in the middle of the night and just did it. I was inspired and it couldn't wait: I had to do it then. A watercolour, I think this is one of my best figures. I also like the face and horns. I am going back to watercolour. At A-Level my teacher didn't like it, thought it was too risky. But I have been using it since I was a child and I am comfortable with it. I just tried some gouache and it turned out rubbish! I think this is Brian Froud inspired, though I am not trying to copy his style I think it may have turned out that way.

*Does happy little wiggle* I think this is my fave of yours! It's beautiful- stick with watercolours, they suit your subtle taste for colours. Just Gorgeous! Love the light quality, too.Fab.

:-) Amy Rebecca Letts replies: "My favourate too! I woke up in the middle of the night and did it then and there. I was very tired the next morning but I think it was worth it. I want to do more like this as I really think it is the next stage in my art. Thanks, Emily. I am definately going back to watercolours now just from your recommendation. "

"Too risky?" Pah. If you can do it, go for it; and you seem to do it well! This figure does show improvement. I love the leafy background... so pretty!

:-) Amy Rebecca Letts replies: "Ooh, happy now. I'm improving - which is obviously my aim. *smiles* I'm very happy with this figure, especially since I didn't use any referances to do it. I just woke up and she was sitting in my head and I had to paint her before she went away. "

Yeah, she is kinda Froud-y, but not too much. I like the misty light colors in this one and the overall delicacy.

:-) Amy Rebecca Letts replies: "Thanks. Being compared to Froud does not offend me *grins* (Froud is king) but I am trying to find my own style."

This is a very good job ...
My best works were made in the middle of the night ...

I like! I think her expression is the best - she looks like a deer caught in the headlights of a car. Who says all forest guardians need to be wise and serene?

I like the background and colors you chose. The idea is clever, too - she looks like a frightened little moose/deer/nymph creature. But just a little constructive crit: her anatomy is a bit off. Her arms seem a tad thin and stiff and her breasts are too close together. Giving her some more curves might also make her look more natural. Use reference pictures to help you or use your own body as an example. It's a cute idea. You're very good with watercolors. Keep it up ^^
