Another little poem I wrote. It started out as a description of myself, but it turned into something about the main character in my book. It was also written in my English class, so I hope you enjoy it.

Behind the Mask

She is a dark elf.

Always, she hides behind an ebony mask.

Sneaking and slinking, she glides through life, a master

of the darkness; a master of intrigue.

Never, however, does she reveal

her true countenance.  Always behind that ebony mask, a

sly smile on her face.

Other elves, dwarves and men flock to see her.

Who has ever seen a dark elf unless before death?

Amazing stories she can tell, full of adventure and danger,

love and destruction.  All admire her, despite

her heritage.  All praise her, despite her mask.

Who knows who she really is?  What mysteries lay

behind those emerald green eyes?  Once, she

could have been a princess.  Once, one of those love

stories she tells could have been hers.

Once, she could’ve not had the ebony mask.

Once, she did not fear the twang of a bow.

No one can see behind her mask.

This is really cool! I like the ending the best, where it really makes you think about who she is. The emerald green eyes is a dead giveaway that it is Anariel. The Order of the Dragon is cool too.

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Thanks! The ending is my favorite too, sort of dark and mysterious. Thanks for reading my story too."

This is a cool poem. I like the mystery about her past. I’ll be sure to read some of your stories so I can see who this Dark Elf is.

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Thanks a lot, and yes, the story does explain a lot about this poem. Hope you like it and glad you liked the poem."

I really like this one! It’s short and sweet, yet you’ve managed to infuse it with intrigue and mystery 2

Awesome, I really liked this. I love dark elves, they’re brilliant! Have you read R A Salvatore’s Drizzt do’Urden books?

Lotsaluv, Em

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Of course I have read about Drizzt. Who hasn’t? They are completely awesome, all of them. Dark elves are one of my favorite fantasy races, even though they are generally evil.

Thanks for reading."

Beautiful poem--it has great flow and feeling to it.

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

The ending is a reference to my book the Order of the Dragon. This poem is sort of about the main character."
