My english teacher did a section completely devoted to poetry, and she had us write a small little piece on a color and a creature. So, this is what ten minutes of English class resulted in.

The Orange Dragon

Happiness is like an orange dragon.

You see him spit fire from his cave; the angry flames eat away

the stone, so hot are they.  The people you know immediately

think he is in a terrible rage, so they flee.  You turn to run, too, but

curiosity drives you on.  Slowly you creep through the

tunnel, foul dragon breath blasting you with every step.

You peek around the corner, trembling in your fear.  Your

jaw drops in amazement, and you suppress a chuckle,

for all the dragon is doing,

is roasting carrots.

That is the funniest mental picture in the world!!! Really cute.

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Yeah, I giggled when the image popped into my head. Thanks, glad you liked it."

Roasting carrots, LOL! I bet your English teacher loved that. Goes to show you shouldn’t make assumptions, eh?

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Hahaha! Thanks. Yeah, my teacher burst out laughing right in front of the whole class. It was a little embarressing, but I got an A. Thanks for the favorite, too."

I really laughed when i read this! One should never makes hasty assumptions about dragons...

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Hehe, I have no idea what was going on in my head that day. I wanted to go for a comedy run instead of my more serious poems."

Cute and concise. I like it. 12

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Thanks. It was a moment where my mind was at its "random high," and then this resulted.

Glad you enjoyed it."

Really enjoyed this; the first line and last line are very effective, the first line drawing the reader in (the simile of "happiness is like an orange dragon" sounding so interesting and unusual), then the last line ending the poem off in such an unexpected way. I like the way orange comes in so much, like with the carrots too - even though it’s not mentioned, we know that carrots are orange so the colour is kept up.

Well written, I liked it! ^^

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Hehe, thanks. This is becoming one of my favorite poems besides Imminent Destruction. Though, they are both on such opposite ends of the spectrum from each other than I really can’t compare them.

Thanks for reading."

Oh, now that is so cool! Reminds me of the other side of what I think dragons were like! And I did laugh at the end as so many of the previous readers did! This is great!

:-) Jess L Rhapsodos replies: "Haha, thank you. This really has become a great hit. But, interestingly enough, I am not this funny in real life. I am only funny on paper after I have time to think about it."
