I started this picture in 2001 when i got a graphics tablet for christmas. I didnt really have any idea how to use the tablet, or what i wanted to paint, but over the course of a year this picture slowly started to form. Its very simple but i'm pleased with it none the less.

It's big and many of the details have been blurred together when it was shrunk down to post on Elfwood, but a larger version is available on request.
(Painted with PSP using a 12x12' tablet)

It is amazing how something so simple can be so intriguing at the same time. Too often, darkness and night are portrayed as having some association with evil (being a writer, I see a lot of this cliche amongst my peers, and have even been guilty of it a time or two), but this picture does just the opposite. It seems gentle, inviting, and (please, don't laugh) has a certain bit of romance about it. Okay, I've made enough of an idiot of myself now, so I'll just end by saying that this is simply beautiful!

For some reason, this picture makes me think of looking at the reflection inside a well, or maybe looking out from beneath the surface of one. Either way, it's like seeing a world just beyond the reach of your perception, and not understanding anything but shadows. it's very well done, very detailed and very real. if i had nothing to do, i could easily stare at this for hours.

:-) Andy J Bradley replies: "Thx Nikki! I love the idea of vast and timless spaces, which is why i chose the name "On the Edge of Eternity". I think that name describes it quite well, and you seem to be thinking allong similar lines when you say its a world just beyond reach : )"

...wowie.. this is neat.. ..I love how the moonlight just brushes the hills there, that's my favorite area.. and the way you can see detail in the moon, and still it shines. wonderful clouds.. ..loving the clouds.. ^_^

Very nicely done. You really catch the emotion that is in the moon and its surroundings. The color is wonderful. I can see the moon beams and the reflection of its light in the clouds. Beautiful.

:-) Andy J Bradley replies: "Thx! The moon in this painting is really the focal point, so i chose my colours in progressivly darker shades as i painted further from it... (seemed like a good idea at the time!)"

This is beautiful. it was worth a year or more. i wish i could do something this great. oh i've updated my gallery if you wanna come look2 no pressure

:-) Andy J Bradley replies: "Thx! I'll wander over to your gallery and take a look!

This painting isn't all that great tho... Its a too simple for my likes now that i look at it more than a year later... if i were to do something similar again, i'd make sure it had allot more depth to the forground as well as a little more depth to the clouds. Hopefully it wouldnt take me as long either! *grins*"
