Little poem I wrote a while ago...came to me while watching Practical Magic...my all time favourite witchy film.

Belladonna

Emma Kathryn

I may appear as human;

A beauty in your eyes,

But what you see before you

Is poison in disguise.

Ebony attire,

The long raven hair,

They conceal more forbidden secrets

Than you are aware.

“Beautiful woman”

As my name translates,

But dark are my intentions

And make no mistake.

I can lure your body into

A deep, peaceful rest,

But push me too far,

I’ll halt the heart in your chest.

I swoop down from high

On wings black as night,

They stretch out behind me

As I leave with your life.

Try to bind me, restrict me,

Keep me in chains,

But you can’t prevent the venom

From rushing through your veins.

I may appear as human;

A beauty in your eyes,

But what you see before you

Is poison in disguise.

The rhyme scheme is good, I love it when people personify things. Especially when it's something nasty like poison. 6 Sep 2006	Catherine Smith	Loading... This is cute, witchy evil cute if that makes sense. Like a ickle witchy child is being told the poem for fun which also teaches her useful things. No Aesop's Fables for that child! Aww she could put her teddy bears to sleep with it! But I'm rambling and I apologise. I really liked it although 'They conceal more forbidden secrets' seems almost awkward but I have no sense of rhythm so it might just be the way I'm saying it. Always wanted to watch all of practical magic, only seen bits and pieces. Also this is kinda unrelated but I thought of Sally with her Deadly Nightshade and then I remembered that Nightmare before Christmas is being rereleased in 3D as in with glasses in October! Had to let you know cos I just found out! I'll blame the rambling on excitement! Emma Kathryn replies: "Lol, thank you very much. That made me smile.
