Vampiress

Emma Kathryn

The demon that reigns

O’er the temple of my body,

Leads me to actions

Which for’er leave me haunted.

The pale of my skin,

The hollow of my heart,

The lack of my conscience

Which the monster tore apart.

The need to survive

Almost brings me to my knees,

Then the horror within me

Brings my victims to bleed.

I try to resist,

But the bloodlust consumes me,

As long as I’m immortal,

I will never be free.

I will never forget

How my afterlife began,

How he lured me with trusting

And took my hand.

He drained me and changed me,

Made me inhuman.

Thus, now I seek vengeance

In my victims, devouring them.

I live in despair,

As immortality takes its toll,

For I lack that one thing

That I once called my soul.

Now I have spoken,

And you claim to understand,

But you don’t, I must show you,

So come take my hand.

Interesting prologue - effective in a unique and underused kind of way - I like! I'm going to actually read your Vampire stuff now!

1 Emma Kathryn replies: "Way-hey!!! Finally, somebody read this one!!!! Thanks for reading Ryan! Glad you liked, I wrote this one a LONG time ago and I only decided to put it on now and please, I'd love your comments on my Vampire stuff coz once I've written the last 3 (ep. 5 is already done and there will be 9 in total) I'm thinking about sending them off to be published! After I get news about my novel "Heart of the Dragon" that is. Wish me luck!!!

Hey, this was really nice! I like they way you've shown her emotions, how she's controlled by her bloodlust... Love that last line too =) Great work!

4 Emma Kathryn replies: "Hey, glad you liked...I did this piece ages ago and didn't realise 'til just recently how well it tied in with my Vampiress. Tee hee, I liked the last line too...so wicked!
Thanks for reading!

Oh-my-God!!!! I cannot believe it this is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read, so beautiful, so sad and a bit scary too, the best bit I think is:
I live in despair,

As immortality takes its toll,

For I lack that one thing

That I once called my soul.
I mean like wow! and the last paragraph too, honestly you are absolutely amazing!! In all seriousness, you should get this published, when you've finished the book, if that's what it's supposed to become, then you really should, I mean it! Keep writing!!

11 Emma Kathryn replies: "Awwwww, sweetie, thank you! You are much too kind...here have a brownie *hands over big massive chocolate Brownie*...am glad you liked it so much, you've really made my day!
Thank you so much for reading and even more for your wonderful comment...here have a cookie too *gives over cookie*
Awwwwwww!
And I do intend on trying to get this stuff published one day, fingers crossed!!!

I love this, it is the best bit of writing about a vampire i've ever read! Off to read more of your stuff now!

4 Emma Kathryn replies: "Awww!!! Thank you!!! I wrote this one before I even started out on Elfwood so it's great to see it's still read!!!! Well, hope you enjoy the others, they're all very different from each other...experimental stuff, you know.
Well thanks for stopping by and thanks even more for reading+commenting!!! Have a good Christmas!!!

*feebly* I don't want to take her hand...

I haven't seen a poem as a prologue in so long. I'm quite happy ^_^ And impressed. my own, pathetic attempts at poetry always leave me blushing...

I swear I've been here before...*confused*

4 Emma Kathryn replies: "Aw, wow, thank you! I'm very flattered! This was originally never intended as a prologue but it was after I started my Vampire series that I realised it worked. Well, thought it did anyway. But I'm glad you liked it and thanks so much for your time and comments!
