A young female ergot (er-got, not er-go) from Yakkirra.

Ergots are proud and stubborn, but if they do manage to bond with another person or creature they're also fiercly loyal for life.

This Ergot still has the spots all baby ergots are born with. Sometimes adults will keep a speckling pattern, but rarely will they have they same style spots they're born with.

She's not old enough to breed yet, but she's got the begginnings of the thick neck ruff of a mature female. A nesting Ergot will comb the loose hair from her ruff to pad her nest. Human Ergot breeders will comb the ruffs of mature, but not nesting females and spin the hair into a very soft, very valuable, cloth.

Ergots have scaled heads like many of their dragon cousins. They're bodies are covered in very soft, often long fur and their wings are feathered. They grow to be about the size of a large goat and can carry about four times their weight while walking, twice their weight while flying.

Ergots are commonly found wild in the mountains, but live in areas very hard for humans and most other predators to reach. Ergots in captivity are much more rare as they take alot of care from tough but kind handlers. Even an Ergot born in captivity won't stick around if it doesn't bond with it's caretakers.
