Ah, beautiful! I love everything about the picture: wonderful composition, graceful mermaid, nice choice of colors. Just beautiful.

Congrats on the well-deserved Mod's choice! I've been looking through your gallery and so enjoying it--especially the way you really put expression into your characters' faces.

:-) Lisa Ann (Jae) Andresen replies: "Thank you!"

She is really beautifully drawn. I love the tail and the border.

At least mention that Alfonse Muccha inspired this...otherwise it's just a blatant (not to mention second, or even third or fourth rate) ripoff of one of the most incredible artists....ever. Keep practicing....

:-) Lisa Ann (Jae) Andresen replies: "I'm flattered that you see a similarity in this piece to the works of Mucha. However, as my work differs quite dramatically in subject matter, composition, thematic elements and color scheme from his work, I'm not entirely sure a few decorative swirls constitues a rip off. Tell you what: I'll keep practicing my own style of art, and you keep reading up on art history. Education in any subject is the best way to avoid looking foolish."

The style that this done in is art neuvo (spelling may be off)with some possible deco influences. It's very calm and beautiful.

This is utter crap.....and judging by her reply to a critique someone left she's a total and complete B&$ch. You should learn to take some criticism cause you aren't really that great of an artist.

Hi there1 I like it, it looks quite art noveau?
Ilike her eyes very much, and you gotta love her pose 12
I think you really, really deserve that mod's.

And, don't care about those fools pretending to know anything about anything, one way to tell a bad artist from a good one (particularly their mind) is to look at their comments. People often downsize other paintings if their own ones sucks...

I love the tail! It looks like kelp. Right on.
27 Jan 2008:-) Naomilynn
