| 18 Nov 2003 | Anonymous | Loading...With regards the writer above...
My life as a real artist began when I read the Silmarillion.I just related to it, in it's slightly disordered state. Before I heard of Tolkien, this is the kinda book I dreamed of writing!(I was a strange creature...) These stories...grew.They happened. In some facet of existence lie the jewels of Feanor.
But don't mind me, 'spose I'll shut up and stop wasting space.
Great picture, again.Thanks, again.
| 18 Nov 2003 | Anonymous | Loading...Ok.This is....Ok.English fails.Where's my Quenyan dictionary?
Darn that, this is amazing! Can you get copies of this?Where has it been published? The contrasts of the men, the textures, the colours-the candlelight is actualy my faviourite part.
Possibly my faviourite of your pictures here (i also like the one with the army marching from Nargothrond).Well, I'm working on getting my artwork published, but it's very difficult. Perhaps one day ...
| 22 Jan 2004 | Anonymous | Loading...I really enjoy the painting, but the elven maiden looks like a guy. She better watch that nose or she'll poke someones eye outWell, actually he is a guy ... | |
| 8 Feb 2004 | Sarah R Illes | Loading...I love your art-works, I always find myself coming back time and time again. I love this illustration... Finrod looks really serious, Beren looks as though he's coming to the end of his wits, he really wants to complete the quest for the Silmaril. It really captures the moment. Yep, I could stare for hours.
Also to the anonymous person above. The elf 'is' male, not female. Some people really need to read the Artist's statement before submitting a comment, it happens all the time! It's very annoying. That's true.
| 2 Jul 2004 | Ellie | Loading...Your artwork is very beautiful... Watercolours are the only medium I've ever seen Tolkien's works donw justice in, and even then only by Alan Lee and yourself.
I could swear I've seen some of your artwork before... *scratches head* Have you illustrated any published Tolkien works? Not yet.
| 14 Jun 2005 | Stav Ofer aka 'Silmarien' | Loading...a beautiful picture. the detail are amazing: the cups, the candles, Finrod’s chair, Beren’s torn clothes... I want to put this pic in a tour I'm making about Beren and Luthien, if you don't want it to be in a tour or if you have any questions please contact me. | |
| 20 Oct 2007 | David Michael | Loading...Darn it, after reading all the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and the Books of Lost Tales 1 & 2, I don't remember what this scene is about! Curses! Because it's a great picture. I'll have to go reread something. I love all the thoughts going through Finrod's mind, and the way the candlelight plays on his clothes and the cups. Very good. | |
| 10 Mar 2008 | Saskia H. Suurling | Loading...When I work with watercolour it always get that blurry but when I look at this I think there must be a way to work with that stuff. Nice pic. | |
