Gollum looked at them. A strange expression passed over his lean hungry face. The gleam faded from his eyes, and they went dim and grey, old and tired. A spasm of pain seemed to twist him, and he turned away, peering back up towards the pass, shaking his head, as if engaged in some interior debate. Then he came back, and slowly putting out a trembling hand, very cautiously he touched Frodo's knee – but almost the touch was a caress. For a fleeting moment, could one of the sleepers have seen him, they would have thought they beheld an old weary hobbit, shrunken by the years that had carried him far beyond his time, beyond friends and kin, and the fields and streams of youth, an old starved pitiable thing.

Please, please do this one again, with the real Gollum posing (as he did so wonderfully in your Farimir farewell portrait) to help fill in the gap left by nassstycruel PJ who left this scene out entirely and even had the gall to replace it with...oh, I can't bear to say it. Sigh.I know exactly what you mean.

*resists urge to throw him over the side and watch him fall down the stairs*

Oh, I hate what happens next in the book! All Sam waking up and driving Smeagol right back to where he was before. So sad. This is a wonderful depiction of the scene, though Gollum looks a tad to ferocious. Very nice, though!

I found this pic a long time ago when I was just beginning to get into elfwood, and I just found it again to show to a friend who's reading the books again and realised I never commented on it. This picture is absolutely beautiful, and inspiring. I had it on my desktop for a long time when I first discovered it; it portrays Frodo and Sam's relationship so well and is so sweet and sad. Your hobbits are the hobbity and realistic ones I have ever seen. Lovely. Thanks for such an awesome picture.

I like your picture Anke Katrin!! It's really heartbreaking. Poor baby!!8(Frodo). But is so sweet Sam is caring of him.

Aww, this is one of my favourite moments in the book. Sam puts Frodo's head in his lap, and strokes the hair away from his master's head. Adorable.

I'd just like to say, I really admire and love your style, it has a true Tolkien-like feeling to it. I don't care much for Gollum in this piece, he looks too evil. Which he really shouldn't do here. But otherwise, this is a fabulous picture.
