Now they laid Boromir in the middle of the boat that was to bear him away. They grey hood and elven-cloak they folded and placed beneath his head. They combed his long dark hair and arrayed it upon his shoulders. The golden belt of Lórien gleamed about his waist. His helm they set beside him, and across his lap they laid the cloven horn and the hilts and shards of his sword; beneath his feet they put the swords of his enemies.

The watercolor is excellent here, I especially like the background. However, Boromir's head is in an odd position. Is his head resting on nothing so that it falls back? He's got a bit of cloak underneath his head, that's all.

Well, the way I see it is that there is the grey cloak of Lorien underneath his head, but mainly behind his neck, so his head would fall back.
Now, on to the art. At the risk of being redundant, I love this piece. I cried when Boromir dyed, and I was inconsoulable when he left.
I like Legolas in this piece. He seems so real.Thank you very much.

just one question. Why is it given a parental guidance rating? Is it because Boromir is a little bloody? Anyway
Great picture, I love it and it should not be hidden.

I love Anke Katrin Eissmann’s works. Reminiscent of Howe but much more humanity. I like her avoidance of potato-nosed dwarves and overly-sylph-like elves (although I can like them too). Just a point about elves and hair and the trivial debate about Legolas’s hair colour. It really is such nonsense. Did no-one read the references to the golden-haired Vanyar, the dark haired Noldor and all that stuff? It mentioned that amongst the elves of Middle-earth, Galadriel and Glorfindel were unusual in having blonde hair. As Legolas is from the line of the Sindar and being a prince probably mixed up more besides, he could have any hair-colour possible. He’s a fictional character; give him whatever hair colour you want!

In referal to comment #2, the book actually does mention that Legolas has long golden hair.
Just putting that out there...
