The Prince Imrahil brought Faramir to the White Tower, and he said: 'Your son has returned, lord, after great deeds,' and he told all that he had seen. But Denethor rose and looked on the face of this son and was silent.

I've read Lotr for over ten times since I was ten and now I'm nineteen. I haven't really gotten into the complexity of Denethors character. That may be because the last time I read Lotr was in spring 2002, when I was seventeen. I've grown up much since then, at least I think I have. Now I think back to it,I realized that in the same spring I started reading Harry Potter. Do these two things have a connection? Probably not.
The reason is that I can't decide of which version to read, the original(english) or the finnish translation. I love the translation and I'm afraid that if I read the english one, I won't be able to read the translation anymore. It happened to me with Harry Potter.

Well, enough of my rambling. The picture is beautiful and emotional. I don't think people hate the book-Arwen, I think they just don't like Liv Tyler. I have no obsession over Haldir, I obsess about Legolas. And Glorfindel should have been in the movies, even Ralph Bakhs(splelling mistake?)
didn't have him, he had Legolas.Well, but Bakshi had things right in that he put only Frodo on Asfaloth when he fled from the Black Riders.

Wow. . . I'm sooooo glad I read the books right now. I have a pitiful suspense threshold and seeing this would set me off. I wouldn't be able to sleep for worrining about Faramir. o_O
Very well done. It's perfect.Hm, perhaps I should put a spoiler-warning up ... 12

Katrin,
This is my favorite of your pieces. The overall appearance of Denethor and his expression are absolutely perfect in keeping with my image of him in the books. Thank you so much.

I like the way you've made Denethor. many people who has not read the books just think he's evil (my silly friend among), they just don't understand his mind is twisted by the palantir, that sauron has in some way poisoned his mind. I like this picture very much. It lives

That part in the book really hit me. To see how crushed Denethor was and you do see his affection for his last and only son. wow, you rock!

This is such a beautifukl picture! It really captures all the emotions in the scene (one I always loved in the books, because it's some of Denethor's redemption as a person, that he finally shows his love for Faramir). There's not a lot I can say that hasn't already been said; the mood of the picture and its color really do it for the scene.
One issue: Imrahil's really letting Faramir's head loll painfully back! It's like when you're holding a baby: keep one hand under its head!
Regardless, the picture is awesome. I've loved your Faramir since the first picture of him I saw...
Keep up the inspiring work, and I'd buy the first boxed set of LotR when publishers finally discover and appreciate your artwork!

*Sniffle* poor faramir. Must be hard to have a father like that, but then again I really aren't thatclear on what happen to Denethor for him to become like he was in the LoTR trilogy. Great pic. Have looked through all your art and I can only say a breathless WOW in awe.

Good use of dark colours! The emotion comes across well in this picture - the face expressions are very good. Especially Denethor’s, which is not quite readable, and therefore fitting his complex character, where you’re not always sure what his feelings really are... Great picture~

i love the way you portray your pictures not much more to say really (gets lost in her own LOTR world)...
