Anna Casey

I love line drawing with ink pens and scan them to add colour with Photoshop, or paint with acrylics. I also amuse myself by writing nonsense verse and silly songs. My art reflects my whacky, playful inner child. Often I try the 'Mr Squiggle' approach - you know the puppet on TV that draws upside-down pictures with his nose (which is also a pencil)? You don't know what I'm talking about? Anyway, you draw a line, turn the page upside down, draw more, turn it sideways, draw more,and suddenly it becomes a bit like something, so you finish it off! That's a great way to get your subconscious working in your art...works for me! I have had to watermark and reduce my images at this site as they appeared in a Google image search!

I'm currently working on illustrating a haiku poetry book, prints for sale, greeting card designs etc. - check my own site http://home.hdcnet.aunz.com/annacasey/index.htm and 'annaart' at www.zazzle.com. My Annaart page has plenty of card, poster, and T-shirt designs for sale.

I just took your tour~the one focusing on Book Illustrations~ (Makes sense as you put one of my crude sketches in it..*hehe*)I enjoyed the tour, but~ please don't take this the wrong way~ after looking at your art here, and Loving the Dragon Maze idea,(There's one for a perfect children's book illustration!),and after viewing your tour, I think a better one from my gallery for your tour might have been Either; My "Mayhem & Madness", or My Dancing Vahrushi in Phoenix Day costume (You know? I can't find anything much in the the woods with dancing creatures in theatrical styled costumes*?Confuzzled?*)... Or, thinking really whimsical, "The Messenger", or "The Horrible Creature". They tell the whole story in one drawing! But then, the drawing is not supposed to tell the whole story is it? So, Maybe "Gryph-Nuzzle" would have been a more interesting choice--if you're looking for children's book type illustrations.. Overly cute, unnatural, critters with funky-ultra-weird names tend to be in abundance in Children's books these days. My Dragon-Cat Anatomy sketch looks like a true Illustration alright, but from an adult type text book. Otherwise, I am flattered that you thought it good enough to include in your tour. I actually like your more monochrome drawings and chose the one I did because of the "Dragononology" book for kids, which is a pseudo nature book all about dragons with meticulous sketches etc. " 21 Dec 2004 Ele 'Beruthiel' J. Loading... Hey, I took the Illustrations tour too . And I really enjoyed it! It's inspired me! This is the first time I've followed the artist who created a tour I've liked... and it was worth it. You have some really fantastic art here, and I'll have to go and check out that AFAE site...
