| Skoller is just the froggish spelling of Scholar. This is one of my earliest poems, and one of my favorites. |
|
Once there was a small creature, a frogg.
He lived right smack in the center of the Great Bog.
He had a large library, with thousands of books,
There could be Millions just by the looks.
When someone got lost, for the bog was so huge,
And didn’t get eaten by the terrible Klooj,
He would say, “If you need any help, just holler,
For I have a Lib’ry, and I am the Skoller.”
He would take you inside his house in the stump,
And fix you a meal with a BANG, CRASH, and BUMP.
For he was intelligent, he and his books,
But none of the Skollers were very good cooks.
After the dinner he’ll ask you to say,
What made you come this treacherous way.
Maybe you wandered, until you were lost,
Or possibly driven by a cold winter frost.
He’ll say you were lucky, for you never know,
What could be lurking outside in the snow.
Snatched by the Wholop, Snapped up by a Trafe,
But that doesn’t matter, for now you are safe.
