I remember going through a book on the Pre-Raphaelites, and happen upon a painting of two girls on the side of a dusty road, one of which who is blind. What must they do in order to connect, what do they use to see? Combining fantasy elves with medieval wardrobe, this traveler is guided with a magical staff for her eyes, assisted by...... an orphan? Her younger brother? You decide! :D

Pencil on regular sketch paper

Recently, Timmy Shumate (ala the Gel Pen Wizard) and I collaborated on making this a colored pic. To see it, you can go here.

Such sublime dignity in her expression! Lovely pencil work...It's been too long since I've sat down and really taken a look at your gallery. *Sits down and does so* Oh, this is fantastic...I absolutely love your new stuff, especially the comic-style art. Keep it up...keep it up....

I took one look at that gorgeous nose and profile and the first thing that popped into my head was Pre-Raphealites! Whoo! Lo and behold, it IS inspired by them. Gorgeous! I love the grace and nobility of this drawing.

This picture is gorgeous. I'm no art expert but i am amazed by your work. The idea of this picture reminds me of the book Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert when Muad'Dib returns blind and led by a young fremen boy.. ah well he of course didn't look good. but this gave me that idea. *shuts up and shuffles away*

I like the idea and the pic is very nice, but how would it be if the elf was guided by an orphan human?

Hmm... I thought it was the boy/man who was blind or at least partially sighted. The reason for my thinking is that because I go to a school for the blind (I'm not kidding) I'm very familiar with legally blind or totally blind (I'm legally blind in my sighted eye I' totally blind in the other eye) people and those of us that can see (not counting those with light perception) tend to squint a lot and it looks as if the boy is squinting.
Also, there are only one ore two totally blind friends of mine that keep their eyes closed all the time.
If you want to make an eye look blind make the pupil a pinpoint because if it has no light perception, the pupil is pinpointed. (I don't kno why this is, but my blind eye is like that) You can also make te eyes look cataracted or completely white (its kinda gross)

Ok, theres all I can "see" too tell you, and by the way, you do wonderful people!

though you are a far better artist than I will ever be... I am drawn to the right hand of the lady. If it is passively resting on the staff it shouldn't be as expressive around the knuckles. If she is grasping the staff, it should be more of a fist. I'm guessing that you had problems drawing this hand. I certainly would! Hands are soo tough.

My word, you are disgustingly talented! I love the lines and shading of this. So organic.

Teehee...I have a tendency to make up stories for drwings, and I have one for yours. The blind one is the child of the leige lord of the sight-gifted one's father. They ran away together when their fathers warred, and the blind one learned many things, though blind, while the sight-gifted one became more arrogant than ever. People, though haveing a natural pregidus for cripples, respected the blind one's judgement more than the sight-gifted one, who eventually grew to resent her for that and plotted, and eventually succeded, to kill her.

wow, that is really good. Her hands look a little off, though. What am I saying, I can't draw hands...*grumble*
