Each phase of the Moon has it's own special meaning. All the witches are moon watchers, and very much so:)
The details of the triptych: Waxing Moon, Waning Moon, Full Moon.

Oh yes, one more thing: she is riding her broom the brush end first because this is the way the REAL witches are riding their brooms. We like to say that this style of riding is an original one, that this is the way the witches used to ride broom by the end of the 17th century... You see, the broom represents both the Goddess and the God, the union of male and female energies... figure it out...;) And yes, that means that Harry Potter is riding broom facing backwards! :P

XD *thinking about Harry Potter, male and female beginning and brooms*
OOPS! *blush*

3 Anya ´broom rider´ Kholodova replies: "Oh yes, there was a whole story of how the high priest of the White Witches of England put a curse on HP movies because there they not only riding their brooms "the wrong way", but also because they are doing it any day of the year and - the main thing - because there were brooms riding by males... Yeah, also think so. Besides... what about "Harm ye none" part of the wiccan credo?"

When you play Quidditch as well as Harry Potter, *then* you may criticicise the way he rides his broom! 1

By the way, the only reasonable way to ride a broom is to sit on the brush. You don't want to sit on the stick for more than two minutes. (no innuendo intended)

A lovely piece of art, as always! I especially love the delicately detailed moons in their varied states of light.

Quidditch? I am not interested in any sport, including Quidditch. Like lots of the witches, I belong to melancholic, contemplative type, totally indifferent to any sorts of competition. Heh, and I think that sitting on a prickly spiny brush is much less pleasant, and way less elegant then riding on a broomstick (even Harry Potter would agree2 Another funny thing is that traditionally male witches would ride pitchforks, brooms were girly stuff; guess Quidditch on pitchforks would be much more dangerous and spectacular sport2) Not that I have something against HP, mind it, it's a great piece of fiction2"

Re your January 2006 reply to Dagmar Jung - brooms & pitchforks as female male attributes - makes sese. Traditionally, to avoid discovery, the old witches disguised their implements as things that would be found around the property/household at that time. So - women for brooms as housekeepers, men for pitchforks as farmers and tillers of soil. Makes perfect sense.
