Frigg was the sister of Niord (a Vanir) and was the wife of Odin, the King of the Aesir gods. She was the Norse goddess of marriage and nature was under her control. About her was always the smell of fresh flowers and fruits of the earth. It was said that she could see the future, but told no one, not even Odin, what she knew. In her hall, she would sit at her spinning wheel and weave the clouds for the summer sky. With Odin, she was the mother of Balder, Hoder, Hermod, Saga, Sigyn and stepmother to Thor. I envisioned Frigg a burnette with long black braids. In some descriptions, Frigg is said to always wear blue and the heron was her patron bird. This is one of my first Norse gods/goddess pieces. After I drew it, I scanned it in and did all the inking/coloring/effects in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Painter.

Beautiful! I love how you did the bird again in background, and then made a smaller version facing the other way in her arms! Also, her crown looks prettty - like Egyptian, kinda

I love how queenly and wise you’ve made Frigg look! I can also see the protective-mother vibe she has going, like when she tired to prevent her son Balder death. And I also like how you have her having black hair. I do not picture all the Norse Gods being blond, because not all the Vikings were blond.

Very wise and regal, just as Mother Frigg is suspose to be. I could definitly see her being the Matriarch of the Norse Gods.
