Products available at: www.cafepress.com/agnesolson Here sits Odin on his majestic golden throne, surrounded by his wolves, Freki and Geri, as well as his two raven, Hugnin and Munin ... He hold his magical spear Gungnir and wears his magical arm band, Draupnir. I've been saying for years that I was going to revamp my previous Odin piece ... I FINALLY DID IT! Whew!!! It took me a long while and here it is ... I kept some elements from my previous piece ... Odin is the one that went through an overhaul. As with my other pieces, after I drew this, it was scanned in and finished off in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Great Work! Been into Mythology since I was a child and love comming across various art depicting the characters. I think its important to keep in mind that you have this piece in what appears to be "SF&F" (Sci-Fi & Fantasy). So don't sweat it if you got a few things wrong in the details! Also, its important to know that depending on your sources, physical descriptions can vary. Which would make sense if you thought of Odin being a real person...some days he might wear the patch, others he might not cause he was too lazy to put it on. =P

Great work! I'd like to see more of this kind of art as well as other types of mythology figures as well. Keep it up!

I doubt that there would have been so many things made of gold. It's too heavy if you're running to war or something. I'm not sure about the throne (Hliðskjálfi) but I don't remember if it was said that it was made of gold... but like I said, I don't remember.

But I REALLY have to congratulate you on the wolves, I want to jump into the picture and hug them, they're so real and adorable! Aw, now I want a cute little wolf... 10

Well... I´m from Sweden myself, we and the norwegian guys share quite o lot of mythology, and I have thought a bit on you description of Mimer as Odens uncle.. Was Mimer not just another giant guarding that well? And then the story goes that Oden just lopt his head of, but having guarded the well of wisdom from the dawn of time, that giant had become quite a clever chap over the time, så Oden made some magic and brought home the head as his chief counselor.. That´s what I call a story!

Then, I must complain... Draupner was his ring, not his armband, and from that ring, eight new rings dropped every ninth night, if I am not mistaken...

Otherwise, I really love you work. The Asa-mythology kicks ass! It just makes you want to pick up your sword, eat some mushrooms and drink some mead and then go laughing into battle, berserk and crazy!

I am the descendant of Oden. My surname Stafford Was in 1067 a.d. Toensi a descendant of Rollo the Ganger. Rollo and William the Conquerer share the same blood line. Before we laid claim to Denmark, Sveide, and the Danes our bloodline was chronicled in Norse epics. Before Godwulf there was thor and before him was Oden. Further research is needed for this page. We could research connections the 12th century monks made between Aesir and asher the lost tribe of jews. Oden was a refugee after the demise of troy. Contemporaries of oden were achilles and nebucanezzar. Jewish rabbis trace the tribe of asher to noah’s son seif.

Agnes my name is Giorgio. Athens, Greece. Good work! Excellent choice of colors. Influenced by Tiziano, Pantormo, maybe? Very good pics! Thank you!

Left eye NOT RIGHT. This is a HUGH error. Ring could mean finger-ring or arm ring depending on translation. Red but I know an older Woden with Snow white hair and beard. There is never an eye patch seen but it is likely he WOLD wear one to war. Not Gold but Steel and Brass. and finally "The Spear of Destiny" has a ruby tip. This is a good picture of a Northman who wanted to emulate Odin, Woden but defiantly NOT the god himself.

Sound ****ish? Well if you are going to draw KNOWN images draw them CORRECTLY! "it is pretty enough though.)

The art is amazing. No one is going to draw a god perfectly because we are all going to see them differently in our heads. There may be a description of Odin some where, but who’s to tell someone they’re wrong, especially someone who hasn’t read the original description of the god that some man wrote long before any of us were born.

All the art done for the Norse gods is beautiful!!
