Ran the giantess was the sister/wife of Aegir, the Giant Lord of the Sea. She and Aegir had nine beautiful daughters called 'The Waves'. Ran had a magical net which caught drowning sailors and brought them down to her hall to live with her. Sailors always kept a gold coin or trinket to give to her, for she loved gold and gold is what lit up the inside of her underwater hall. Like my other artworks, after I drew this picture, I scanned it and outlined it in Adobe Illustrator, colored it and added effects in Photoshop and added additional effects in Painter.

I really like it but i think you should have put more of a story with it. She is so beautiful but at the same time kinda creepy. I think that she really looks like what she should.

kinda creepy but cool. reminds me of "the little mermaid"...the bad mermaid witch of course(that's a good thing).
i think both Tyr and Heimdall are both Aesir.

It is striking. The fierce determination in her eyes is hypnotizing.

Hi there,

I love your drawing. I race on a 8meter sailboat (http://http://www.8mr.org/Missing !) built in Sweden in 1935. Her name is Ranja -- named after the Goddess Ran. We would like to use your image on our battleflag. Is it possible to purchase a high resolution version? The flag will be 5ft by 7ft.

Please let me know at gouldbarbara@hotmail.com

Thank you!
