This was never really finished. Valera is a Russian gargoyle. By tradition, her clan protected the Czars of Russia, and when everything fell apart, they had been able to save only the Princess Anastasia. The clan hid and cared for the girl as best they could. Valera was hatched ten years after the disaster, and when she earned her warriorhood at age 40 (20 for humans), she was assigned to guard the now elderly princess. She is devoted to her charge, and is dreading the time when Anastasia will finally die.
