SciFi and Fantasy Art Mermaid Seer by Ashley Lasnetski

I drew her body practicing from a human anatomy drawing book I have and I added the tail. I was mostly contcentrating on her body and the shadows... not the face as you can see. I like her- she reminds me of some kind of seer of the future or reader of dreams or something. Thats why she has that bit of stone over her 3rd eye charka. I really like her tail. (a note on mermaids... they don't have scales duh! They are smooth like a dolphin, whale or seal. This is because they are mammals (like us) so come on ppl! But they do look cool with scales sometimes... jsut thought I'd say that! One person's reaction when I showed them this was- 'wheres the scales???' So now you know.) Charcoal; on acid free, med weight, traditional laid finish paper; Smudges fixed up on computer (Photo Studio 2000 SE)

Ashley Lasnetski replies: "Thanks! I really like her. She was originally an experiment, concentrating mostly on the upper body, and thats why her tail seems a bit short. But I like her and all the shadow. Thanks!"
