John H. Blackham apparently looks like vash, or so many of his friends say. He loves Mike Turner (guitarist), Tim Burton (artist, poet), Rowan Atkinson (comedian), et Kirk Hammett (another guitarist). |

| 29 Sep 2005 | Melissa 'Silent Coyote' Jensen | Oh yeah. I've been meaning to ask you - if it's all right - if I might get you to do a picture. I would do it, but I think your style would make it cooler. I have a character known as stitches, a.k.a The Ripper. He's humanoid, skeletal, with emaciated flesh that looks to have been stitched, wired, and stapled together. He has ragged wings, wears ragged pants (no shirt), a ragged longcoat, and wears a cowboy hat, and carries around a rather long, jagged butcher knife. Stitches is part of my modern day fantasy known as Arcane. He is one of the accursed, and is the nastiest of them all becuase he is hard to trap and enjoys what he does. Anywho, if this character has inspired you, please fell free to draw him. If not then that's okay. I just think you would draw him better, though I may try to attempt him at a later time. I'm just not good at drawing people or people-like things. John H. Blackham replies: "I'd love to do so! In fact, I've not been drawing for the past couple of weeks... I need to get back into it, and this'll be a great way to do so... man, haven't been asked to do a piccy since the Corpse Bride thing a couple of months ago! Thanks for the offer!" | |
| 29 Sep 2005 | Melissa 'Silent Coyote' Jensen | Yo, word, and stuff like that. Finally got my blood-sucking computer back. Blah! It was torture not having it, it really was. Never try writing by hand! Anywho. You see Charlie and the chocolate factory yet? If you have, and you liked it, then you need to talk to my sister who is obssessed with it. Movie quotes need to be exchanged. Looking forward to Corpse Bride. I need to tell someone. I'm going to make a comic book. I was inspired by a graphic novel known as Courtney Crumrin and the Coven of Mystics. Ever read it? I highly reccomend it. Anywho, I don't know why I had to tell someone. I guess I'm just really excited about it. I'll be posting pictures for my comic as soon as I'm satisified with them. It'll be called Diabolical. The rest will be revealed at a later time. John H. Blackham replies: "Meh, great to have you back! 'Tis! Well, I have seen Charlie, but not Corpse Bride as of yet... but I shall, as soon as I am able! Quotes need to be exchanged? Gar, I'm better at quoting in person, but it'll work... in any event, I look foreward to this comic you're doing! I don't often read comics, but I intend to look into yours!" | |
| 11 Oct 2005 | Yumi | You know brother??, you say "Tim Burton" everywhere you draw. And believe me, that. Is the best flattery that I can do to anyone. So until another day: "It's in the fridge daddy-o! Are you hip to the jive? Can you dig what I'm laying down? I knew that you could! Slide me some skin soul brother!" -Willy Wonka- John H. Blackham replies: "Oh, well, thank you much! See, I do regard Burton as a genius and base much of my work mostly off of his storytelling and his emotive filmwork... the artwork is more based off of Edward Gorey and some inventions of my own... but thanks much all the same!" | |
| 4 Jan 2006 | Chloe Lytle | Hi! Your art is very unique, I can definatly see the Tim Burton influence, but at the same time it doesnt look like something copied or taken right out of his movies(which is good). Miyazaki is awesome. I do believe my gallery was created out of sheer boredom too . You sound like me as far as PE, I took drama as my PE credit, but thats because I had the time ...anyhoo nice art! John H. Blackham replies: "Heh, I'd have taken drama for P.E. credit if it were offered as such, but it's not, sadly... well, thank you much! I'll... have to see your gallery now, to see the differing subconsciouses at work..." | |
| 17 Apr 2006 | Abigail O'Brian | lol hello, you know if you're going to lie about your nationality then you should choose scottish. Brits can be hot...but the Scots are so much cooler lol...interesting artwork...I like it...though I enjoy color alot and wish some more of your paintings possessed it John H. Blackham replies: "Wow! People came by recently! Fun! Hasn't happened in ages! Well, thanks for dropping by (it has been forever since I updated, meh?)... and for the comments! " | |
| 29 May 2006 | Breanna | Hello friend. Your art is amazing, it has a definate twist that you dont see in much art these days, not even in my own. I really admire the fact that you think as highly of Tim Burton as I do(<3 Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, Miyazaki). I think your art is something that not very many people really expect to find but are amazed when they do find it, as I am now. I am envious of your talent. Keep up the great work, its positively unique! Always, Bree John H. Blackham replies: "Why thanks! Erm... I really do need to update, meh? So many things I've done since! This stuff is years old... thanks for stopping by! And commenting! It's lovely stuff, ya know." | |
| 12 Jul 2006 | Melissa 'Silent Coyote' Jensen | Hola. Long time no talk and all that. Sorry if I seemed to not have been around. Kind of been traipsing all over the place net wise, hanging out here and there, getting prepped for publication, and unable to submit anything to Elfwood thanks to the complication that is HTML. I've been submitting stuff at another site. http://labelmeinsomniac.deviantart.com/ if you care to drop by for a look see. So how are things? John H. Blackham replies: "Ah, deviantart, meh? I checked stuff out there, but, ah, I can't really get into the community there. Can't really get into the community here, for that matter... or anywhere, really. Myspace, elfwood, deviantart, forums of all shapes and sizes... just doesn't work for me. Meh, All's well. Glad to see ya back here, though -- I haven't updated or even checked my comment page in months upon months. Hm... oh, wait, what, publishing now? You're getting published?? I must check this out! What is it that's publishing???" | |
| 14 Jul 2006 | Louis Boehling | Hello neighbour of the six hundreds. Haha. Nice art. I like it. Godd shading and deatil. Drop me a post when you update again. Also, I like how out spoken you are in your bio, I enjoyed reading it. John H. Blackham replies: "Oh, graci! 'Course, I'd love to rewrite the whole thing in its entirety -- I wrote it years ago, dontcha know! I was young, immature, sophomoric, much like I am now, but differently! But thanks for the stopping by and the commenting, it's much appreciated!!" | |
| 15 Sep 2007 | Laura Karie Blackham | Ha HA!! I'm an Elfwood artist! So THERE! (Sticks out tongue)
