When I uploaded the drawing "The ending" I got a question from Maxine she said." The end of everything as you say, and that there is no return to what was. but with this, it begs the question, what whill be?"  I got inspired form that question, this is my response: "There whill be a "new beginning". This drawing resebles my god character Janus (again) I can't help my self. Anyway, I had to study the arm muscles and the ribs to get this one at least a bit right.  Here you can find the sketch and the official line art. His raising hands are forming the smoke form "the ending" to a "New beginning" That was the concept behind this.

name description: Janus is the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings and endings.

made with: Paper 18Ibs, Pencils: H, H6, HB, B, B2, Dusters 1#, 2#. Eraser.

Time: 23:01:00 Spend over one week.

Add, Septmber 26, 2008.

I changed his rip position and will be changing him even more, but bit by bit because of the little time.

Well done Asja! Good concept, good pose, good composition and nice shading. Keep studying that anatomy, you are getting better ;-). The weak area is the abdominal muscle area. Your sketch looked better, but the shading seems to create an odd shape to the muscle area. Let me know if you would like me to show you what I’m talking about 1.
A nice job that shows improvement Asja!

:-) Asja Ilonka Keeman replies: "Thank you Tony, that means a lot to me specially hearing it from you.
Of course its all right to do that. I would like to improve this drawing, I already changed his rib position, but still the shadows are bothering me a bit. I’m looking forward to your mail. I always like to improve and keep studying. "

Okay, I see what you have done with the rib cage, they seem to stand out a bit more. Don’t make it too much or he’ll look like he hasn’t had anything to eat for a long time. 18

:-) Asja Ilonka Keeman replies: "Hha no this is what it will look like, I only going to change is abdomen the next time and that will be it. I had another drawing in the moderator que but the rejected it. I’m going to look into it how I can get it on Elfwood. Want to show it so badly!"

:-) Asja Ilonka Keeman replies: "2 vervelend he? `Rock concert "The Blackout" support. echt heel gaaf lekker mee lopen springen, zingens en douwen ahahha.."

Oo, I love it! great pose and I love the smoke... Somethings a bit odd about the stomach though, but everything else is great=) I’ve had a peek at some of your other work as well, but I have to say that this one is my favourite so far=)
**Skips off to look at the rest of the gallery**

:-) Asja Ilonka Keeman replies: "Yeah the pose works very well with the concept doesn’t it?
about the stomach, your right I’m redoing him bit by bit, because of the little time I have to draw right now. But you will see a better version of him soon. Glad you have a favorite here! thats really great to hear. Thanks for going trough my gallery, hope your coming back to see the updates when there in. Thank you very much! "

Very powerful composition, and great use of pencil! You’ve made this picture look so ’complete’ somehow, which is something I have a slight difficulty achieving in my own pencil work. There’s a point when pencils look like sketches and one when they look like a finished polished piece - and this is definitely a case of the polished variety!

:-) Asja Ilonka Keeman replies: "Pencile can be very hard to handle indeed. Mostly it looks like you didn’t dare to draw, because it looks unfinished ore (like you said, sketchy) But when you try do really do pencil. You can do wonderful and powerful things. That is what I learned. So far now, I think you have noticed that my shading are much heavier and powerful than half year ago. So I say it to you to, If you going to draw with pencil’s again (please do so!) Don’t be afraid 2"

wow ! you are realy good ! i can imagine that it tock you sow long ! the clouds are very good made2 and his body looks very real!

:-) Asja Ilonka Keeman replies: "Thank you, the clouds indeed I was really sick of it when I finished that part. But it looks quit good and it fits the concept very well so, I’m glad I pulled trough with that. Thanks for the lovely comment!"
