I've done a mind flayer portrait, as I had promised. Since I didn't know a lot about illithids to begin with, I did some reading about their anatomy, origins and culture. I was especially interested to learn that they were said have a distinct style of clothing, which to me implies they have their own esthetic. That lead me to the idea of this stylish mind-flayer, whose dress is decorated with the skeletal remains of 'prey animals'.

(This pic is now in Fanquarter, due to moderator's decision that all pictures of D&D creatures are fan art. Don't ask me, it didn't make any sense to me either... :P)

Aaahh, the eyes! Scary but really cool. The shading is impressive. How long did you work on it?! It looks really great and the clothes are very cool for a Illithid. But the eyes are amazing. They look so real. Like the Illithid sees you and waits to see you running away....
