I think your major problem is the construction of faces. They have no depth and therefor look... unreal.. or how can I put this better? *think* They just don't look right.
You have a good grip at body structure, but what can really help you, as well as things belonging to face-structure, are books (with pictures of course) about the human body and face. When you have studied the proportions it will become easier for you to draw them how you like. You should also try to find manuals on the Internet (or in bookstores) about how you can draw proportions more easily.
I won't say that I am good at that, I am still studying myself and I know that I still have to learn a lot, but I know what to look for, and that is always good.
I have some drawings that were designed after proportional learning, and it really helps =)

You comment has brought a book about drawing portraits to the top of my "to get"-list.On the other hand, I don't think I'm good at bodies.
