Barbara Jean LeDay

Barbara is an Ad Design student whom draws fantasy art in her free time. Her art style has been said to be a mixture of manga and american comics. She loves to draw fantasy pieces such as elf or dragon, etc. But at times my draw elves in modern day clothing.

Hi, I'm Barbara. I am the oldest out of two children (both girls). I'm korean and creole (black cajin). Ever since i was a wee babe I've always loved to draw. I find drawing quite enjoyable, relaxing and an all around fun way in which to express myself. I cannot specfically state what inspires me, there is so many places and things which I get inspired from, and I often discover new things to get inspiration from. Currently I am in college seeking to get a degree in Ad Design, but I plan on getting another later in Sequenial Art and as well as Web Design. The mediums I use to draw are art pencils (2H, HB, 2b, and an Jet Black Extra Smooth Ebony pencil), mechanial 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9 pencils. For inking I use, a Rotring Rapidoliner 0.18mm Pen, Micron 05, and 08 markers, Sharpie Fine Point, Super Sharpie, and Sharpie Chisel Tip markers. For coloring I use Prismacolor markers, watercolor pencils and in some very rare occasions will use the Prismacolor colorpencils (I actually dislike the way regular colorpencils look on paper). Hope you like my artwork!!.. (By-the-way jus' to let people know the pic of me to the side is me dressed as a goth angel)

Now this is a gallery I won't forget. Your pictures are wonderful. Love every and each one of them. I wish I could draw humans and elves like that.

:-) Barbara Jean LeDay replies: "All it takes is practice, practice and more practice. Actually at one time I couldn't draw humanoid figures if my life depended on it at one time I could only draw animals, monster, and cartoon characters but then I practiced, and just to let you know I should have some new pics like 16 new pics up soon."

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice style, my dear! Geez, I wish I could do decent Lineart and less of my friggin' sketchy works.

2 Barbara Jean LeDay replies: "  Well I wish my sketches looked a little more presentable, sometimes the pencil is to light and there is so many lines throughout the page others can't make out what it is, myself being the artist I can tell but, ..anyway thats partially the reason why I proceed to ink them. All it takes is practice."

1 Barbara Jean LeDay replies: "Thanks for the comment, glad to hear when people enjoy my art if not for that I'd think I'd lose the heart to draw, an' yeah I wouldn't mind attempting to draw your char for you at all, you jus' hav'ta send a description of her/him my way, 'k?"

I love the way you're able to draw dark skin with light hair. Wow. Absolutely :amazing: art here. Especially the portraits and poses. ^^

:-) Barbara Jean LeDay replies: "Thanks and umm.. the dark skin thing is more of a random thing than planned, and at times deliberate. The poses well half the time I get ideas from clothing advertisements or magazines."

What can I say? There is very good attention to detail here.
The lines are drawn accurately and the shading is just right in many areas. I can see that you take great pride in your work. You have really advanced from subhumanoid creatures. Do yourself a favor: don't stop drawing.

:-) Barbara Jean LeDay replies: "Thanks Judd you've made my day! By the way just to ask what subhumaniod drawings are you talking about? Did I really draw that many furries during that fall semester in college?"
