SciFi and Fantasy Art Chimera Hunt by Benjamin F Battiste

I have a list of about 10 painting that I want to finish before getting home in June, and this was the first checked off the list. I had a very sleepless night not too long ago, and instead of getting up to draw the first thing in my mind, I opened up a word file, and typed descriptions, and let the show go on. This was one of the last images to come through my mind, and I didn't change much from what I typed. I wanted to show a Chimera as an animal with an ecology, not just some beast to trouble adventurers. I figured when you are a chimera, elephant would probably be the game of choice. I used a limited pallet of 16 colors pulled from a photo of the Serengeti, and just mixed with those.

7 Feb 2011	Rua Lupa	Loading... EPIC! Although, I am not so sure the goat would enjoy elephant meats. Goat’s Thoughts, "you two are revolting. I don’t know how I manage with both of you." Still a great ecology scenario. The scenery matches up really well. Great detail too. If it weren’t for the obvious fantasy element of the chimera, it would be quite believable that they’d be doing this.
